A huge explosion has reportedly been heard in the vicinity of Cairo Airport this evening.

Various sources are claiming that the explosion was from a fuel tanker near the airport, indicating that the incident might be an accident rather than foul play. The Civil Aviation Minister said air movement at Cairo airport wasunaffected after the blast, contradicting earlier unconfirmed reports.

The military said a warehouse belonging to the Heliopolis for Chemical Industries company, which it owns, blew up due to "an increase in air temperatures".
