Kawhi Leonard Rumors: Spurs Star Will Only Join 1 Eastern Conference Team

Los Angeles is not going to do that.

Unlike the 76ers and Celtics, the Raptors don't possess a bevy of assets to swing a Leonard trade.

It's been almost a month since it was reported that Kawhi Leonard wants out of San Antonio, and yet the 2014 Finals MVP is still wearing a Spurs uniform.

On the trade front, we saw European teen rookie sensation Luka Doncic get dealt on draft night, while role players like Austin Rivers and Marcin Gortat swapped teams, Dwight Howard landed in Washington, and Wilson Chandler was moved to the Philadelphia 76ers. His reasoning was he did not want to play second fiddle to the three-time champion, which is understandable, given that he starred against the James-led Miami Heat during the 2014 NBA Finals where he was notably named MVP.

The Leonard-Spurs saga has seemingly lingered for months now.

George Clooney Seriously Injured in Scooter Accident in Sardinia
Italian media report the accident happened in Sardinia where the United States actor is filming his latest TV series, Catch-22. The 57-year-old was hit by a vehicle while riding his scooter on the island of Sardinia, officials confirmed to NBC News .

Concern about Leonard's injury status and his impending interest in remaining in another National Basketball Association city different than Los Angeles have been reasons that have kept front offices from stepping up their offers, unwilling to give up any valuable assets in trade talks with the Spurs.

Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Daily News reports that the Sixers have been in talks with the Spurs and are confident they could convince Leonard to sign an extension, but the Spurs "keep trying to raise the ante" for Leonard by claiming another team is offering more. "That's the only Eastern Conference team he would consider if they're able to put a package together".

Leonard has been closely linked to the Lakers given his reported desire to play in Los Angeles, but the James signing has complicated that option for the Spurs, who are understandably hesitant to hand L.A. what would arguably the NBA's top duo and help them to instant title contender status.

The Sixers and the Clippers are the other two teams being mentioned the most when it comes to a Kawhi Leonard trade.
