The White House said some of Kavanaugh's credit card debt listed on his 2016 financial form was due to buying season tickets to the Washington Nationals for himself and several friends, but officials stressed that he was reimbursed for the friends' tickets in 2017. Add that to a retirement account worth about $500,000, plus the equity in his home, and he has about a million dollars in wealth.
Unlike some of the other justices, Kavanaugh has worked more than two decades in the public sector and has not built wealth as a private lawyer. The report stressed that the disclosures are made in broad ranges, making it hard to know exact figures.
The documents do not provide a complete record of Kavanaugh's finances.
His public filing does not include his home, which he purchased with his wife, Ashley, in 2006 for $1.2 million. Their current mortgage is $865,000.

Kavanaugh's financial disclosures are not all-inclusive and could be significantly lower than the actual value of his combined assets. He believes that even in red states, Democratic senators can cite preserving the Affordable Care Act as the "number one" reason they'd vote against Kavanaugh's confirmation.
Wisconsin's other senator, Republican Ron Johnson, said earlier this week that he supports Trump's decision to replace retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy with Kavanaugh and was looking forward to a quick confirmation. His financial disclosures reveal that his assets are worth between $15,000 to $65,000, placing him at the lowest amongst Supreme Court Justices in terms of net worth - or about 10 times less than Justice Clarence Thomas, who now holds the title.
"Judge Kavanaugh has written some troubling things about environmental protections, consumer protections, commonsense gun safety laws - all of which should be carefully examined by this Senate and by the American people", Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said. Associate justices on the Supreme Court make $255,300, while Chief Justice John Roberts draws a $267,000 salary.
