Florida man with no arms charged with stabbing man with scissors


Florida native Jonathan Crenshaw stabbed a 22-year-old Chicago man twice with the scissors before running away, according to the Miami Beach Police Department report on Crenshaw's arrest early on Tuesday.

An armless homeless man in Miami, Florida has been charged with stabbing a Chicago tourist with scissors.

Mr Crenshaw told police he acted in self defense. He said he then pulled out a pair of scissors with his feet and stabbed the victim before putting the scissors in his waistband and leaving the area, authorities said.

According to the Miami Herald, the homeless man is a fixture in the South Beach area, known for painting with his feet.

The publication has profiled Crenshaw in the past and found he has had multiple run-ins with police and other officials, including violent crime charges.

In Washington, the State Department welcomed Liu Xi's release and urged China to release all of its political prisoners. And Sophie Richardson , China director of the New York-based Human Rights Watch (HRW), expressed "relief" at the news.

The friend said they approached Crenshaw near the intersection of Collins Avenue and 16th Street and asked for directions, when he suddenly jumped up and stabbed Coronado in his arm.

Police said there were no indications that Crenshaw was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident.

Officers found Coronado lying on the ground, bleeding from his left arm.

Neither men dispute that Coronado was stabbed, but Crenshaw said he was attacked first, according to the arrest report.

Crenshaw has a court date on July 18; his bond has been set at $7,500.
