The first human case of West Nile virus infection in Canada was reported in Ontario in 2002.
A year ago was the most active season for West Nile since 2002, with one person testing positive for the virus in Oxford County.

N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) has been detected in the valsartan active substancemanufactured by Zhejiang Huahai Pharmaceuticals. The company says that "no other Sandoz or Novartis products, even those that may contain valsartan, are affected by the recall".
Employees regularly count mosquitoes caught in traps located in half a dozen areas in Huron, including Winter Park, Ravine Lake Park, Kunhart Field, Sportsman's Club, the new Southtown water tower in southeast Huron and the state Game, Fish & Parks Department on the state fairgrounds. Mosquitoes can then transmit it to other birds or to humans or horses. Not all mosquitos carry the virus, and only 20 percent of individuals bitten by an infected mosquito will develop symptoms.
