Vivo Nex with bezel-less display, pop-up selfie camera launched

The Vivo NEX was listed online on Suning.com, one of China's leading online retailers. On Tuesday, at an event in Shanghai, China, Vivo launched the NEX - essentially a polished, market-ready version of the Apex, with tons of rad new tech that make a notch-less, almost bezel-less screen possible.

Like other manufacturers, Vivo has developed an AI assistant which they've called Jovi. The Lenovo phone only comes in a mid-range version, whereas the Vivo Nex also has a high-end variant. In any case, it should be an improvement over the company's previous devices which sported in-display fingerprint scanners. Another major difference is the absence of the under-display fingerprint sensor.

Just unveiled in Shanghai, the Vivo Nex is here to make your bezel-less, notch-less dream come true. The Vivo Nex A is equipped with a 128GB of inbuilt storage.

The launch of NEX adds another milestone to Vivo's list of industry-firsts.

The Nex has a screen-to-body ratio of 91.24%, which means the bezels around the edge of the screen are particularly slim. We can consider this as a truly bezel-less device because of the very small bezels. A speaker is fitted on the chin of the device.

NEX also replaces the traditional earpiece speaker entirely with its Screen SoundCasting Technology by turning the screen into a speaker. The rear camera includes a 12 megapixel f/1.8 lens and 5-megapixel f/2.4 lens. The phone's cameras come with at on of modes as well, as far as the front-facing camera is concerned, you can choose between Live Photo, Face Beauty, AI HDR; Portrait Bokeh, and Panorama modes, while AR sticker and AI filters are also included.

The Vivo NEX is powered by 4,000mAh battery that is enabled with support for 22.5W fast charging through USB-C. At the front there is a retractable 8MP front camera. Through voice commands, Jovi can be used for launching apps and it is capable of image recognition, translation, scanning, shopping, encyclopedia and map reading. The Vivo NEX shows us what is next in the smartphone technology including the pop-up camera. It is optimised to run games made using Unreal Engine. For enhanced gaming experience, the 4×4 antenna scheme promotes improved signal reception when the handset is held in landscape mode for playing games.

There's no beating around the bush, the elevating camera is the Vivo NEX's selling factor. In terms of dimensions, the Vivo Nex S measures 162x77x7.98mm.
