Late Tuesday morning, June 12, maintenance employees of St. Paul's Town Square building tried to tempt the raccoon down with a long pole, but the critter was having none of it.

A raccoon is finding itself in deeper and deeper - er, higher and higher - trouble as it climbs downtown St. Paul's UBS Tower.

For now, the 23rd-floor ledge ― almost the top of the building ― has become the raccoon's resting spot. At one point, a small crowd had gathered on the street to see what would happen next.

The raccoon sits on the ledge of an office window.

Paige Donnelly Law, which is also located in the UBS building, posted some close up shots of the critter, which the law firm said "seems to be doing well".

A raccoon scaling a Minnesota skyscraper may be the most popular thing on the internet right now and it's putting many people in a Marvel state of mind - complete with Rocket Raccoon jokes. "We all just have to keep our fingers crossed".

On Tuesday, building maintenance workers were able to get the poor little guy to move, but he unfortunately took a more unsafe route, climbing UBS Tower next door.

The last update about the raccoon's journey was staff from the local fire department were trying to lure it the roof to rescue it.

St Paul Animal Control believed it may have been there all night before it started heading skyward.
