Putin says he is happy to meet Trump once Washington ready

Putin has been driven closer to China by a sharp decline in relations with the West after Moscow's 2014 annexation of Crimea and support for a separatist insurgency in eastern Ukraine.

Mr Trump's strained relationship with the rest of the G7 was in evidence on Saturday when he arrived late for the opening session, with Mr Trudeau addressing a gathering that included an empty chair where the president was meant to be. She said the two leaders exchanged pleasantries and briefly discussed trade.

Mr Putin said that some nations, including Austria, have offered to host his summit with Mr Trump.

Mr Macron - who has cultivated a close relationship with Mr Trump over recent months - stressed that the U.S. was isolated.

The premier, however, said that Britain had registered its "deep disappointment at the unjustified decision by the U.S.to apply tariffs to European Union steel and aluminum imports" at the meeting.

"We are ready to boost, deepen and improve relations with the United States".

In his remarks to reporters on the White House lawn before departing for Canada Friday morning, Trump touched on a wide range of topics.
