Meanwhile, we're sure tens of people will be crushed to learn that the Zune help forum will be locked once and for all, as will the Microsoft Band forum (the Band 2 forum will continue to be supported). Microsft is discontinuing support for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 8.1 RT (so, Windows RT in general), among others. "The forums will still be moderated by Microsoft agents to ensure participants can engage in a safe and positive environment".

Microsoft has announced that starting next month it will no longer be participating in the technical support forums for Windows 7, 8.1, 8.1 RT and numerous other products.

If an issue was big and widespread enough, one would expect Microsoft users to create threads, and Microsoft support staff to chime in with technical support and fixes to bugs.

May faces another day of Brexit compromise in parliament
Matthew Pennycook, one of the opposition Labour Party's Brexit policy team, urged lawmakers to vote to hand parliament more powers.

The forums will remain available online and community members can still use the forums to post new topics or replies (with the exception of those that are locked in July 2018).

The change will take into effect on July 2018, and Microsoft Staff will no longer proactively review, monitor, or answer questions for a certain subset of old Microsoft products (seen below). Support for the following products is being discontinued across various forums in the Microsoft Answers community.

According to Microsoft, the move is being made to "shift" its support scope.

Microsoft Band - this topic will be locked. For Windows 8.1, the extended support will terminate on January 10, 2023. Extended support includes paid support and security updates at no additional cost only, and that is what Microsoft could have meant.
