Arsenal close in on double signing to bolster back division

The Gunners have wasted no time in making their move as the Italian publication claims that Arsenal have now agreed a fee in the region of £22m to sign Leno while personal terms have also been agreed with the player.

Reports emerged this week that the 26-year-old is being lined up by Arsenal's transfer committee as a long-term replacement for veteran keeper Petr Cech.

The Leverkusen shot-stopper narrowly missed out on a World Cup place with Germany meaning a transfer will be easier to complete.

And it appears he is close to getting his man, with Sport Bild reporting that an official announcement is expected soon.

The Three Lions follow up their first game five days later against Panama before taking on Belgium in their last Group G fixture. Adams believes that manager Gareth Southgate , someone who has a great deal of confidence in, is "perfect for the FA".

Arsenal have continued their attempt to add greater steel through the spine of the squad by holding talks over the potential signing of Uruguay and Sampdoria holding midfielder Lucas Torreira.

Torreira is Arsenal's main central midfield target and they are hoping to reach an agreement on a deal for the Uruguay worldwide, who has a €25 million release clause.

It is already looking like it will be a big summer for the Gunners, with Unai Emery having taken on the challenge of replacing Arsene Wenger, who held his post for 22 years, although had let the squad diminish into a team of average players.
