Alabama has finalized a home-and-home series with another big-name program.
The Longhorns will host the first matchup on September 10, 2022, the school announced. "The Crimson Tide and Longhorns have played a lot of memorable games over the years and the addition of this home-and-home series will be great for not only our fans, but fans of college football". The schools, among the most storied programs in college football, have met nine times dating to 1902 with Texas holding a 7-1-1 advantage. The last meeting between Texas and Alabama went to the Tide, who claimed the national title 37-21 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

Nzima, 83, died Saturday night in a hospital in the northwestern city of Nelspruit, said his son, Thulani Nzima. The museum, opened in 2002 in Soweto, shows the history of the Soweto students' uprising on June 16, 1976.
As a result of the Alabama-Texas series being scheduled, the Longhorns had to make several adjustments to their future schedules. Those adjustments are noted below. Texas and Ohio State, originally scheduled to meet in 2022-23, have mutually agreed to reschedule for the 2025-26 seasons. The Longhorns will host the Buckeyes on August 30, 2025 and travel to Columbus on September 5, 2026. Texas also canceled its 2023 home game with UCF, which was scheduled for the week it will now travel to play at Alabama. That game has been canceled.
Both schools announced the major news on Wednesday morning.
In 2020, Texas is scheduled to play South Florida (Sept. 5), at LSU (Sept. 12) and now UTEP (Sept. 19).
