The kangaroo that was seen hopping along a SC highway for hours Tuesday.

"My mom's friend saw it one night and told everyone at a party, they all called him insane", writes Lee Dammon in the comments section of a Facebook post by McCormick County Sheriff's Office.

It's not illegal under SC law to possess a kangaroo with proper permits and licensing, and Stearns said the farm was in compliance with current statutes.

Around 6:30 a.m., a deputy was called to a kangaroo spotting on S.C. 28 near the Georgia state line in rural SC, according to WIS.

The kangaroo had escaped from its owners pen and made its way to the highway.

For hours, the kangaroo was hopping near Clarks Hill, which is outside of Augusta.
