A Paramus School District statement said: "This morning, East Brook Middle School students on their way to Waterloo Village were involved in a serious bus accident on Route 80 in Mount Olive, NJ". The 43 other passengers have been hospitalized with some in critical condition undergoing surgery.

Faltings said the front of the dump truck appeared to have been sheared off and the school bus was "ripped off its frame" after hitting a guardrail and flipping over.
The injured were being rushed to at least two area hospitals.
The school bus had markings for the Paramus School District. He says he thinks something hit a vehicle behind the bus.
"I heard a scraping sound and we toppled over the highway", said fifth-grade student Theo Ancevski, who was sitting in the fourth row of the bus and was treated at a hospital for cuts and scrapes.
He said people escaped through emergency exits on the roof and in the back of the vehicle.
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy has been briefed on the crash, according to Communications Director Mahen Gunaratna. The students were enroute to Waterloo Village for a class field trip.
The Morris County Prosecutor's Office isn't yet releasing the victims' names or additional information on how seriously anyone was injured, as this is an ongoing investigation.

The school is located about 22 miles from New York City.
The NTSB investigates civil transportation accidents, such as plane and train crashes.
The school bus and dump truck crashed on Interstate-80 near Exit 25, in Morris County's Mount Olive Township, New Jersey State Police confirm.
"Family members are asked to visit East Brook Middle School to await more information from school officials". He calls the crash a "tragedy". Two people, including and multiple people were injured in the crash.
The bus was apparently filled with children, and multiple injuries are reported.
Images taken at the scene and posted to social media show the bus on its side in the median with heavy damage to the front end. Two people have suffered life-threatening injuries but the extent of the others is not known.
Seventh-grader Alejandro Garcia says that fellow students who had brothers and sisters on the bus started crying after news of the crash reached the school.
