OnePlus 6 launched to universal acclaim

Unsurprisingly, the premium built OnePlus 6 was able to pass the full range of practical, quirky, painful and outright unnecessary durability tests with flying colors.

Yesterday finally saw the unveiling of OnePlus' new flagship, the OnePlus 6, and already the handset has had its durability put to the test via a series of scratch, burn, and bend examinations, courtesy of YouTube channel JerryRigEverything. As expected, the OnePlus 6's Gorilla Glass 5 begins scratching at level 6, with level 7 making much deeper marks. This is something similar to the OnePlus 5T that also resisted scratches until the Moh level six of hardness.

The good news for fans is the OnePlus 6 holds up comparatively well during the procedures.

It also offers the same near bezel-less design as many of its more-expensive competitors, with OnePlus shaving off the top and bottom bezels still present on its 5T predecessor.

There have been a few other design tweaks too, with OnePlus shifting the Alert Slider to the right-hand side the phone, redesigning the fingerprint scanner and opting for a vertically-aligned camera on the rear of the phone. The OnePlus 6's AMOLED panel survives about 20 seconds of the flame before being permanently marred, which isn't unexpected.

Olsson has made all five wallpapers available to download in high-resolution, so you don't have to have a OnePlus 6 to enjoy them. The YouTuber found some flex, though the build didn't result in any cracks or kinks even with an impressive amount of force being pushed to bend the handset. The manufacturer has added a cushion layer of soft plastic between the glass and metal frame. Any concerns about the glass back leading to a less durable flagship have been done away with in the video.
