NWU Golf shoots 313 at Day One of NCAA Tournament

At the NCAA Division III Golf Championship in North Carolina the Husson Eagles were one of several teams who could not complete their first round because of inclimate weather.

The second round of the 54-hole tournament will take place on Tuesday as the Spartans will again start on hole No. 10 and tee off between 8:55-9:39 a.m.

Schaake was three-over for the day and five-over for the tournament when round two was suspended. They are nine strokes ahead of the nearest team and the only two teams to break par. However, the five UA players caught fire after making the turn, carding a total of -10 on the back nine, with 16 birdies compared to only six bogeys.

Matt Unruh got off to a rough start taking a seven on the opening hole shooting a 45 on the front nine.

The region's No. 1 seed, Oklahoma State, is the current team leader after a team score of 3-under-par on Monday.

INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD - Texas senior Doug Ghim's 66 was able to keep him in the lead, but only by one stroke as NC State's Benjamin Shipp made a big move with a 64 Tuesday.

"We fought hard today in tough conditions", head coach Brandt Kieschnick said after the opening round.

In Columbus, Ohio, University of Iowa sophomore Alex Schaake is tied for 24th after the second round of a NCAA regional at the Scarlet Course was shortened Tuesday.
