No petition received on Ekiti governorship primaries - APC Appeal Panel


Balla said the three-member appeal committee sat for three days expecting petitions after the primary, but received none. He also tasked the aspirants to support Fayemi in the state elections.

Speaking after receiving the report, Senator Izunaso thanked the committee for undertaking the assignment on behalf of the party.

"Fayemi should not celebrate this pyrrhic victory yet because it is nothing but a flame that will be quenched on July 14".

Deputy Governor of Ekiti State and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Professor Kolapo Olusola, has asked the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Kayode Fayemi, to return billions of the state funds he allegedly looted as the state's former governor.

Balla said, "In the three days that we (the committee) sat, we did not receive a single petition, either in form of writing, telephone call or a text message, which means there was no petition after the primary in Ekiti State". He won the Ekiti gubernatorial primary for the ruling All People's Congress on Saturday. I believe the APC is supreme to all of us and we must not do those things that will sabotage our efforts in this coming election.

The chairman announced that the party's leadership had started work at consolidating on the victory recorded at the primary.

He commended all the participants in the keenly contested primary who passionately worked hard to serve Ekiti state as governor, urging them to keep upholding the values and philosophy of the party by supporting the APC candidate in the forthcoming elections.

"This is another opportunity for Ekiti people to regain that mandate, and this time around, it will no longer be stolen by anybody". And this time around, it will no longer be stolen by anybody.

"Furthermore, he must demonstrate that he is now a changed person by desisting from telling white lies as he did on National Television yesterday, lying so brazenly that he did not give APC delegates money to get their votes".

He noted that it was only Ekiti state in the South West that was not in the APC fold, this he said, showed that the zone was APC. Opeyemi Bamidele and Mr Kayode Ojo, have promised that they would work assiduously to ensure that Ekiti joined the progressives government being superintended over by President Muhammadu Buhari in the July 14 poll.

According to him, they are paying the price for keeping quiet when the party leadership was displaying impunity.
