UPDATE: In the time since the story was originally published, LucasFilm reached out to Premiere and offered a clarification of Kathleen Kennedy's quote, saying Star Wars is interested in making a Lando movie when it's relevant. "There are still many stories to tell about Han and Chewbacca".
"We think that the next spinoff will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian".
LucasFilm have always been rumoured to be planning sequels for Solo, but it presumably depends on how the movie fares at the box office when it opens later this month. It seems a misunderstanding took place and, while a Lando movie is "something [Kathleen Kennedy would] like to do one day in the future" it's not next on the agenda. We'll all get to find out for ourselves next week... "And he was like, 'I hear you; I don't like your odds.' And that was exactly what I needed to hear". But we hope that decision ends up being the one Lucasfilm makes.
Thomas Markle's surgery keeps him away from daughter Meghan's wedding
The BBC says "it is still very much Meghan Markle's wish that her father should be there on Saturday to support her". The paparazzi pictures show Thomas looking at photos of his daughter and Harry on a computer.
Donald Glover proves that even in a galaxy far, far away he's a superstar. But a movie focusing on Lando Calrrissian out on his own would be sublime.
Now it is faring reasonably well on Rotten Tomatoes, with an aggregated score of 73%. "It would also be fun to tell the story of Han and Chewie..." . Pretty sure Glover won't be too hurt. We can now add a Lando movie to the list of films we expect to see, with no idea when we actually expect to see them.
I may be down on the prospect of Star Wars being continuously trapped in the past, but if Lucasfilm is determined to fill out the backstory of all our favorite characters, Lando is not an individual I would bemoan. And let's not forget, he's still in the story with Han and Chewie, so fans can get their Donald Glover fix without him needing to star in the film.
