Premium cars maker Honda Cars India (HCIL) on Wednesday launched the much awaited all-new second generation Amaze compact sedan priced between Rs 5.60 lakh and Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom, across India). Honda has manufactured it on a new compact Sedan platform. It also comes with a CVT automatic gearbox in the diesel version, a first in it's class. Segment leader Maruti Dzire, which also got a full lifecycle face lift past year is offered with an AMT gearbox in both petrol and diesel versions.

The New Honda Amaze showcased at 2018 Auto Expo in Greater Noida. The petrol versions come with 1.2 litre engine mated to manual and automatic transmissions. Moving to the rear, the new Amaze features an angular design with C-shaped tail lamps and a shark fin antenna. The petrol engine produces 89bhp at 6,000rpm and 110Nm of torque at 4,800rpm, while the diesel engine churns out 99bhp at 3,600rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,500rpm.

Further, on the basis of Height, the Amaze is shortest among all and has the longest wheelbase, which helps the brand to achieve more boot space (420-litre) than the Dzire (378-litre) and Xcent (407-litre), which only gets 407-litre and 378-litre respectively. Introduced in the segment ruled by Maruti Dzire, the Honda Amaze 2018 sedan has always been an important product for the vehicle maker. It rides on newly designed alloy wheels and sports refreshed taillights. It has a chrome grille in the front with sweptback headlamps with integrated LED DRLs and a new front bumper with rectangular fog lamp pods. The interior also gets a 7-inch Digipad 2.0 touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a new instrument cluster with MID. The Petrol-CVT version would also get paddle-shifters for a sporty experience. The front seats have adjustable headrests and there's a centre armrest with cup holders in the rear.

The Honda Amaze 2018 is offered in five colour options: Radiant Red, White Orchid Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic.

The interior of the vehicle has been completely redesigned and it looks sharper than before.

The new Amaze is an excellent compact sedan in the Indian market for the price it demands. Maruti Dzire also gets 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT whereas Hyundai Xcent is equipped with 5-speed manual gearbox along with 4-speed AT transmission.
