Congress To Demand The "Karnataka Model" In Goa, Manipur, Meghalaya

In Karnataka yesterday, the BJP was invited to form government as the largest party, though the Congress and Janata Dal Secular combine claimed a comfortable majority.

"If in Karnataka the single largest party got a chance to form government, then the governments in Goa, Bihar, Manipur and Meghalaya should resign and make way for the single largest party", said Randeep Surjewala of the Congress.

RJD had emerged as a single largest party with 80 seats in 2015 assembly elections while JD (U) was second with 71 seats and Congress Party 27 seats.

Similar claims are also being made by Congress leaders in Goa where Congress with 21 out of 40 seats was the single largest party in the last state elections.

"The Congress is also preparing to demand the "Karnataka model" in neigbouring Goa, where it couldn't form a government a year ago despite emerging as the single largest party".

The RJD had emerged as the single-largest party in the assembly polls held in 2015. In Manipur (Congress 28, BJP 21) and Meghalaya (Congress 21, BJP2) too, the respective governors had invited the BJP or BJP-front to form the government. ANI reported that All India Congress Committee General Secretary Ashok Gehlot issued letter requesting all Pradesh Congress Committees, leaders and workers to organise state-wide dharnas at state capitals and district headquarters tomorrow to protest against Karnataka Governor for inviting BS Yedurappa for making government in Karnataka.

Arsenal legend says Firmino is 'the most complete striker in the league'
We are Liverpool , on the way to becoming a really good team, and performing at such a high level is very cool. We entered the competition for the first time in a while and we quickly realised that we had a good chance.

He was referring to the decision of Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala to invite the BJP to form the government after the Assembly election results declared on Wednesday.

"The formation of government in Karnataka is undemocratic and to protest this murder of democracy we have chose to launch a day-long protest in Patna". Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik will meet Tejashwi at 1 pm on Friday.

The Congress won 78 seats and the JD (S) 37. "The BJP is using all unconstitutional methods to form the government by throttling democracy and misusing agencies be it the CBI, ED or income tax to intimidate rivals", he added. "The numbers will have to be proven on the floor of the House and we have that with us", Goa Congress leader said. "We will definitely rush to the Raj Bhawan on Friday and stake claim to form government", said Okram Ibobi Singh, former chief minister of Manipur, in an exclusive conversation with Times Now. If they have allowed the single-largest party to come to power in Karnataka, then they should allow that here as well.

"We will prove our majority on the floor of the House within a day".

The Congress and Janata Dal (S) together showed a strength of 117 legislators with the support of one MLA from the Bahujan Samaj Party and one independent, crossing the half-way mark.

The Goa Congress said by the same count, it should be given power in the state.
