12-year-old boy taken from Gold Coast hinterland

A 12-year-old boy was allegedly abducted from outside his house and held for ransom over his father's $4 million dollar gambling debts.

The 12 year old boy was allegedly abducted about 3:30pm on Friday afternoon outside his home in the Gold Coast suburb of Mudgeeraba.

The 53-year-old man arrested over the alleged kidnapping will be charged with kidnapping for ransom once he is extradited back to Queensland, police said.

Police are still looking to locate the dark blue 2013 Jeep Compass with Queensland registration 760 TNH believed to be linked the boy's disappearance.

Police said they found the boy after following a auto linked to his alleged abduction using Main Roads camera networks.
