Hebard carries OR women's basketball in 76-63 victory over Washington

Brown followed with a steal and layup before adding a free throw as OR went ahead 63-48. However, the Ducks still owned a 10-point lead going to the fourth quarter, 66-56.

By this point it should be clear that even though No. 9 OR has three sophomores and a freshman in the starting lineup, the young Ducks can suffer a setback without turning it into a losing skid.

"That was a heck of a weekend for Ruthy", Oregon coach Kelly Graves said. Tinkle's productiveness from the high post all game forced junior forward Noah Dickerson or sophomore forward Sam Timmins to come out into no man's land and respect his scoring ability.

The Cougars played Friday's game without two starters, Caila Hailey and Louise Brown, and key contributor Nike McClure, who have all been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules. In his previous three games, he averaged 20 points and 11.3 rebounds.

UO guard Lexi Bando returned from injury, hit her first two shots (both 3-pointers) and finished with nine points in 12 minutes off the bench. She also had nine rebounds and four blocks.

Troy Brown had 16 points and 10 rebounds while MiKyle McIntosh scored 13 points as OR (17-8) improved to 7-5 in the Pac-12.

With the Ducks now 17-8 overall, OR is guaranteed to have a winning season, Altman's 21st in a row.

Kat Tudor had 17 of her game-high 23 points for the Beavers in the first half, sinking 5 of 6 shots in the half, all from 3-point range. The Huskies (7-18, 1-13), who reached their first Final Four in 2016 and lost in the Sweet 16 last season, have lost six in a row and 13 of their last 14.

Washington State trailed by 12 in the opening minute of the second half but scored eight of the next nine points to creep within 42-37 on Flynn's basket with 16:35 left. The Wildcats (12-14, 4-8) were led by Maci Morris' 21 points.

Washington (7-17, 1-12) lost its fifth straight and simply didn't have the size to counter OR in the paint.

The streak for Altman dates back to the 1997-98 season, when he was the head coach at Creighton.

The Ducks (17-8, 7-5 Pac-12) won for the fifth time in the past six games.

The Cougars top offensive weapon was Robert Franks with 17 points and six rebounds on 6-13 from the floor and 5-5 at the line. Duke won without center Marvin Bagley, the ACC's leading scorer and rebounder, who sat out with a mild right knee sprain.

Beavers redshirt sophomore forward Tres Tinkle, the son of head coach Wayne Tinkle, ate the Huskies' interior defense alive the entire game, leading all scorers with 29 points and nearly coming up with a triple-double with his 11 rebounds and eight assists.
