Five sheriff's deputies and two civilians were shot in what the Douglas County Sheriff's Office called an "ambush" style attack.
"I can't tell you how hard it is to sit down with a spouse of a deputy who has been killed n the line of duty", the haggard-looking sheriff said at a news conference later Sunday. Four other deputies and two civilians were also shot, officials said.

Parrish and the four other officers were hurt when a gunman opened fire.
"There were well over 100 rounds fired. from the suspect", Spurlock said.
