Nintendo consoles continue to fly off the shelves. If you've ever wondered why Nintendo refuses to give up on the 3DS now that the more capable Switch is on the scene, well, there you go. Nintendo also stated that since its launch 10 months ago, the Nintendo Switch has sold more than 4.8M units, making it the fastest-selling home console in USA history.
Over the holiday season, shoppers purchased 1.5M Nintendo Switch systems during the five-week reporting period of December.
Ninty has followed up on Microsoft's revelation that Switch was the best-selling video games console in the United States last month, confirming it shifted 1.5 million hardware units during December 2017. Since its launch on March 3, 2016, more than 4.8 million Switch units were sold, making it the fastest-selling home console in United States history.

The December 2017 figures also showed a 27% increase in 3DS sales year-over-year, resulting in the Nintendo 3DS family of systems selling 21 million units life-to-date in the USA alone. As for the software, most of the Switch games were in the top for the overall software sales as shared by Nintendo.
Nintendo had a good month on the software front too, with games like Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild all ranking within NPD's top 10 chart. Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon for 3DS also finished at numbers 13 and 14, respectively.
