Chelsea Manning files to run for US Senate

Race filings demonstrate that Manning, 30, presented her appointment to the Federal Election Commission on Thursday as a Democrat. He has served two terms and is an overwhelming favorite to win. She is running as a Democrat.

She has been lauded as a whistleblower by some and condemned as a traitor by others for leaking hundreds of thousands of classified government documents to WikiLeaks in 2010 while still known as Pte.

Formerly a U.S. Army soldier assigned to be an intelligence analyst for the U.S. Department of Defense, Manning leaked classified military documents to WikiLeaks.

In his announcement, Obama said that Manning's sentence was "unbalanced" to those looked by different informants.

Chelsea Manning has reportedly filed to run for U.S. Senate in Maryland. Manning came out as a transgender woman in 2013. She was placed in solitary confinement after attempting suicide twice.

To many people, Manning is an American traitor who does not deserve the spotlight or a public platform, let alone recognition for anything.

Manning could not immediately be reached for comment.

Manning also tweeted: "The worst armed criminals wear uniforms and carry shiny pieces of metal".
