Arsene Wenger confirms Alexis Sanchez's transfer is 'imminent' after Manchester United's offer

Alexis Sanchez is not certain to start against Bournemouth, as his relationship with the Arsenal squad and staff has deteriorated against the backdrop of his expected move this month to Manchester City or Manchester United.

Paul Merson has labelled Henrikh Mkhitaryan "one of the best players in the Premier League" and urged Arsenal to sign him if Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil leave the club.

Sanchez has not travelled with Arsenal for their game at Bournemouth on Sunday amid speculation of a January exit, and Arsene Wenger has confirmed to Sky Sports that a resolution on the striker's future is imminent.

He has been at Arsenal since 2014.

Discussions are believed to be underway between Klopp and Liverpool's owners, Fenway Sports Group about lodging a potential bid for Sanchez, although it will be hard for the Merseyside club to persuade the Chilean to move to Anfield due to both City and United being able to offer significantly higher wages than the Reds.

Asked if he knew where Sanchez was going, Wenger replied: 'No'.

The Mirror have reported that United are leading the race for Sanchez and that they're prepared to pay the Chilean a staggering £350,000 per week.

Mourinho had been keen to make a move for Sanchez during the summer window, but both the Portuguese and United believed that City had a deal all-but agreed for the former Barcelona man.

"My understanding from the blue side of Manchester is that they don't want to pay anything like £35m for Alexis Sanchez, they would be more happy to pay £20m".

The 29-year-old Chilean will be entering his potential new club who lead the Premier League by 15 points over his other suitors United.
