Tagovailoa completed 14 of 24 passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns, the last of them a 41-yard strike in overtime to DeVonta Smith that gave Alabama a 26-23 victory over Georgia on Monday night.

Time and time again, Fromm found ways to get his team out of trouble. "I'm so happy for him, happy for this team".

Saban previously coached in the National Football League with the Miami Dolphins, but only lasted two seasons as the Dolphins failed to make the playoffs during his brief tenure.

"The amusing thing is, if this second half doesn't flip like this and Alabama's (not) moving the ball, it doesn't change - people that really know what's going on would tell you that Tua was leaving", Kiffin said on The Dan Patrick Show.

Another college football season ended like so many others in recent years - with Alabama coach Nick Saban holding up the national championship trophy.

The latter led Alabama to a second-half comeback sealed by a walk-off touchdown throw in overtime, propelling him to legendary status in the eyes of some.

"A very motived unit, one that was ready to go get it", Hurts said. During the 2011 season, the Crimson Tide stifled LSU 21-0 with one of the great defensive performances in college football history.

Tagovailoa, a true freshman, is just getting started in his college career, but he's already etched his name into Alabama football lore with his heroic performance against Georgia.

The Tide remained determined and steadily began erasing the deficit.

That's according to former Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, who recruited Tagovailoa to Tuscaloosa until his departure to become the head coach of Florida Atlantic in December of 2016. Facing a fourth-and-four, Saban chose to gamble and go for it with 3:56 left. The Tide had a chance to win the game in regulation, but Andy Pappanastos' 36-yard field goal try as time expired was hooked left, forcing overtime.

Saban coached the Dolphins in 2005 and 2006, compiling a 15-17 record before leaving for Alabama.

With Saban, it was just so insane it worked, Tua Tagovailoa giving the Tide just the spark they needed.

There were so many things, but the most important one is when I went to church with one of the coaches. There has been speculation that Saban is interested in becoming the new coach of the New York Giants.

Kiffin repeated that he would have had Alabama throw the ball more than it did against Georgia.

In beating Georgia, which was on the brink of its first national title since 1980, Alabama unveiled its next crop of stars.

There's a line in the movie "The Cincinnati Kid" where Edward G. Robinson, playing card shark Lancey Howard, tells Steve McQueen, "You're good, kid, but as long as I'm around you're second best, might as well live with it".
