Nikki Haley Tells UN Security Council: Iran's Playing You

One official she left out: Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. "It's going to require United Nations reform and I think, India has to go and bring together as many supporters as it can in order to really effect that change in the Security Council", Haley said.

US Ambassador Nikki Haley addresses a UN Security Council meeting on North Korea, Monday Sept. 4, 2017 at UN headquarters.

Haley and Tillerson have both had to fend off questions about their working relationship and role in foreign policy decision-making, though the secretary of state is traditionally viewed as America's top diplomat. "Iran must be judged in totality of its aggressive, destabilizing and unlawful behavior". Teheran's arms sales and military support of the Syrian regime and the terror proxies Hizbullah (Lebanon) and Houthi rebels (Yemen) are further examples of Iranian violations of United Nations resolutions, she said.

Haley noted that while the IAEA, the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog, has said Iran is in compliance with the deal, it also found "multiple, flagrant violations on the resolution's non-nuclear provisions".

According to the Associated Press, she called Iran's most threatening act its repeated ballistic missile launches.

The Security Council has endorsed the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal which caps its nuclear program for about 10 years, and the agreement has the support of USA allies and the four other veto-wielding council members — Britain, France, Russia and China. "Because members of the Security Council are not going to listen to the Congress on the shape of the Security Council", she said. Pointing out that the two countries share the same values, he added that "the world's oldest democracy and the world's largest democracy will continue to flourish".

Israel's Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon used his speech to warn against Iran's influence in the region and said that "Iran seeks to destroy Israel by any means necessary". Iran has complained that the not meeting its part of the agreement. "The leader of Hizballah talks openly about the support Iran provides".

He strongly disagreed with Haley who told the council that "nearly every threat to peace and security in the Middle East is connected to Iran's outlaw behavior".

He also said that "we are not going to waste our time on answering the rants of the brute nature" by Haley.

However, it appears that Haley's words may fall on deaf ears.

But "the hostile policies" of the USA and its regional allies, especially Israel, "that have turned the region into a tinderbox require the Islamic Republic of Iran not to be complacent about the country's defense needs", he said.

Moreover, Iran's Ambassador Gholamali Khoshrou hit back as Haley, telling her that she provided "the wrong address when it comes to the root causes of insecurity in the Middle East", noting that at the "core" of the all conflicts in the Middle East is Israel's "occupation of the Palestinian land".
