A teenage girl who had been kidnapped for almost a month escaped this week by swimming across a lake.
Thomas Barker, 32, of Carlos, Steven Powers, 20, of Mankato and Joshua Holby, 31, of Carlos, were all arrested on suspicion of with kidnapping, false imprisonment and assault.
Block was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries and has since been reunited with her family. She agreed, got in his vehicle and they drove to his home. Instead, he took her to his home, tied her up with zip ties and began assaulting her.
Authorities said Block was kidnapped on August 8 by Thomas Barker, 32, who urged the teen to get into his vehicle and drove her to a residence in Carlos. She claims that Barker and Powers had sex with her on multiple occasions, but Holby did not.
Far too often, something like this becomes a tragic end result, but this time, a young woman's bravery and ingenuity led to a reunion. The girl was moved to other locations, including a cornfield, before winding up in a foreclosed home.
The 15-year-old had been tied up and threatened with weapons. Once back on dry land, she then asked a farmer to help her. Barker and Holby reportedly were roommates and Powers arrived at Barker's residence about two weeks after the abduction.
These assaults continued over the several weeks she was being held.
