According to the statement, Hetzel is being booked at the Henderson Detention Center in Nevada, on charges of alleged carjacking and alleged kidnapping.

Joseph Hetzel, 52, of Lompoc, was arrested just before 6 p.m. Tuesday and is being held without bail as an out-of-state fugitive, Henderson jail records show.

Investigators believe Hetzel kidnapped Paris in Solvang, California, and drove away in her black Chrysler sedan.

A woman who was allegedly kidnapped by her former boyfriend in California last week was found safe in Nevada Monday night, while the suspected kidnapper - who authorities say is unsafe and may be armed - remains on the run.

Investigators say they are "deeply concerned' about the safety of Paris". Hetzel is a convicted felon with a criminal history that includes using explosive devices with the intent to terrorize, felony vandalism and making criminal threats.

Paris, 55, was sighted Sunday morning at a Starbucks in Goodyear, Arizona where officials say she ordered a drink and told a customer in the shop that she needed help. The woman had recently been granted a restraining order against Hetzel but it had not yet been served when she was kidnapped, authorities said. On Monday morning, Hetzel and Paris were seen checking out of the hotel near Grand Canyon.

After two hours of the distress call, Paris told the staff that she was kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend Hetzel.

Paris was treated at a hospital and then reunited with her family. Shortly after 7 a.m. on September 4, surveillance footage captured Hetzel and Paris checking out of the hotel.

In the second call, Paris asked for help and stated she was in the Henderson, Nevada area. The surveillance video capturing Paris walking into the casino-hotel.

Paris' family called Santa Barbara County dispatchers and Las Vegas police to launch a search effort.

At around 11 p.m., Hetzel dropped Paris off in front of the Railroad Pass Hotel and Casino in Henderson.

On early Tuesday, the police officers discovered Paris' vehicle in Mesquite, Nevada.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's officials describe the case as a dynamic investigation that is still in its early stages.
