The class 2nd student was found with his throat slashed, possibly by a knife. A knife has been recovered from the scene of the crime.

Earlier, the father of the victim had said that it was a "clear case of murder". Reacting to the incident, parents damaged parts of the school building. Ryan International School is located on Sohna road in Gurgaon.

The killer attempted to sexually abuse the 7-year-old school student, the PTI quoted Gurugram Police officials as saying.

Sources said the police are looking into all possible angels and trying to determine if Pradyuman had a fight with some other student or was being ragged by any senior in the days preceding the tragedy. The boy was immediately rushed to Artemis Hospital by school authorities, but was pronounced brought dead by the doctors, reported Times of India.

Devansh Kakrora was found dead in the school tank and the CCTV footage that the police later recovered showed that the boy had been playing on the school ground before his death. "Despite all attempts, unfortunately his life couldn't be saved", it said, adding that the school was cooperating with the police. After about half-an-hour, at around 8.45 am the school authorities called his father and informed him about the fatal incident. "A Team is already there in the school to find what happened and ensure it never recurs", he said. He was happy. They told me his health deteriorated suddenly. They did not take care of my son. "I dropped him today at around 7:30 a.m. He was happy", the grieving father said.

It has now been said that parents are protesting outside the school. FIR is registered against the unknown culprit.

The school said in a statement it was "deeply saddened by the tragic incident". They are questioning the school staff, students and teachers in the matter.
