Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that he does not regret omitting Philippe Coutinho from the squad for the Premier League fixture with Manchester City. The 23-year-old has under 10 months remaining on his contract with Liverpool.
On the specific absence of Coutinho's incisive passing, Klopp added: "We score a lot of goals and all the players on the pitch play these passes". If you want to blame me for the decision (not to play Coutinho) then no problem. He came back long flight, 15 minutes here, 15 minutes there, three weeks without training.
"Phil is a fantastic player, and hopefully we can use him as quickly as possible". We have matches next Wednesday, next Saturday, we play, play, play, play. I will have the situation all the time now over the next three or four weeks.
"We thought it best to give him three or four days proper training and then he'll be available for us, which is very good news", continued Klopp.
The Spaniard is expected to miss the UEFA Champions League group stage match against Liverpool at Anfield, as well as Sunday's La Liga clash against Girona, reports Efe news agency.
